Search Engine Webmaster Tools
The following steps will allow you to retrieve such data as URL Errors on your
site, Index Stats, Top Search Queries, Page Ranks and more from the top 3 search
engines.
1. Google
2. Yahoo
3. MSN
1. Google
a. Log into your Google Webmaster Tools account. If you do not have an account,
you will need to create one.

b. Add Your WebStore Site via the Google Webmaster Tools Dashboard (link opens
in new window). Please enter the URL exactly as it is in your WebStore account.
For example, if your WebStore URL is ‘http://mywebstore.com’, please enter it in
Google exactly, and not as ‘http://www.mywebstore.com’ (notice the extra
‘www.’).
c. Now, on the Site Overview page, click the “Verify your site” link.
d. Choose “Add a Meta Tag” from the “Choose your verification method” drop-down
box.
e. Copy the Google-generated meta-tag file name (starts with ‘ Site Wide
Properties.
i. Select the Head Tags tab.
j. Paste the meta-tag file name in this text box.
k. Click Save.
l. Click PublishSite.
m. Click the Publish button.
n. Once the publish is complete, return to Google and click the Verify button.
2. Yahoo
a. Log into your Yahoo Site Explorer account. If you do not have an account, you
will need to create one.

b. Navigate to the My Sites panel.
c. Add Your WebStore Site name and click Add My Site. Please enter the URL
exactly as it is in your WebStore account. For example, if your WebStore URL is
‘http://mywebstore.com’, please enter it in Yahoo exactly, and not as ‘http://www.mywebstore.com’
(notice the extra ‘www.’).
d. Now click Authenticate next to your new site in the list below.
e. Copy the Yahoo-generated meta-tag file name (starts with ‘ Site Wide
Properties.
i. Select the Head Tags tab.
j. Paste the meta-tag file name in this text box.
k. Click Save.
l. Click PublishSite.
m. Click the Publish button.
n. Once the publish is complete, return to Yahoo and click the Authenticate
button.
Note: The authentication for Yahoo may take up to 24 hours.
3. MSN
a. Log into your Webmaster Live account. If you do not have an account, you will
need to create one.

b. On the Website List panel, click Add a site.
c. Add Your WebStore Site name in the Web Address box. Please enter the URL
exactly as it is in your WebStore account. For example, if your WebStore URL is
‘http://mywebstore.com’, please enter it in Yahoo exactly, and not as ‘http://www.mywebstore.com’
(notice the extra ‘www.’).
d. Enter your Sitemap Address as well, http://mywebstore.com/sitemap.xml.
e. Select the Look for a META tag I’ll add to the home page file verification
method.
f. Click Submit.
e. Copy the MSN-generated meta-tag file name (starts with ‘ Site Wide
Properties.
j Select the Head Tags tab.
k. Paste the meta-tag file name in this text box.
l. Click Save.
m. Click PublishSite.
n. Click the Publish button.
o. Once the publish is complete, return to MSN and click the OK button.
Note: The authentication for MSN may take up to 24 hours.
